AL HOFELD, JR. SUBMITS MORE THAN 2,700 PETITION SIGNATURES IN SUPPORT OF RUN
FOR 13TH DISTRICT STATE SENATE SEAT

Hofeld Issues Immediate Public Challenge to Incumbent For Series of Debates; Notes That Incumbent’s “Free Ride” Is Over

This morning, Al Hofeld, Jr., candidate for the Illinois State Senate seat representing the 13th Legislative District, delivered 2,748 signatures to the Illinois State Board of Elections in Springfield, Illinois. A minimum of 1,000 signatures are required to be placed on the ballot.

“My candidacy represents a new day for the residents of the 13th Legislative District and I look forward to serving them as their new state senator,” said Mr. Hofeld. “In 2004, our voters had no choice – the ward bosses simply handed the post to the incumbent over the wishes of now-President of the United States of America, Barack Obama. In 2006, voters had no options in the democratic primary election, as the incumbent ran unopposed. Effective today through primary election day in 2010, the incumbent’s free ride is over.”

Mr. Hofeld now calls for the incumbent to join him for a series of no less than three debates before next February’s primary election.

“Effective immediately, I challenge the incumbent to a series of debates on the issues that face our residents, like the need to work in support of new job creation, to bring real political and fiscal reform to Springfield and to work to address the many other real problems our residents face every day,” said Mr. Hofeld. “After creating a six-year record in an office that was simply handed to him, the incumbent’s decision over whether to accept my challenge will speak volumes about if he believes the residents of the 13th District deserve to hear from those who ask for their vote or if, conversely, he believes they deserve no more than the same tired politics from which he continues to benefit.”
